Fresh details have emerged in the ongoing investigation into the death of Mary Habila at the residence of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, in Uburu, Ebonyi State, as police continue efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Reports indicate that Habila’s body was found unclothed when it was discovered at the minister’s residence, a development that has intensified public interest and raised further questions about the events leading to her death.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Nigeria Police Force, with the case transferred to the Ebonyi State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry. Investigators are expected to rely on forensic evidence, witness statements and other evidence to establish the facts surrounding the case.
Minister David Umahi has confirmed that Habila died at his residence and maintained that she was a physiotherapist on secondment from the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences to the Federal Ministry of Works.
The minister has called for a comprehensive autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, describing it as the most credible way to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Umahi also stated that emergency responders and the police were immediately notified after the incident and disclosed that he met with the deceased’s family to express his condolences while encouraging them to consent to an autopsy.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation and allow the ongoing police investigation and forensic examination to run their course before any conclusions are drawn.
