In a recent appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga addressed public concerns regarding President Bola Tinubu’s acquisition of a refurbished jet, emphasizing that it is indeed Nigeria’s property and not a new purchase. This clarification comes amid discussions about the President’s travel expenses and the need for efficient governance.

Onanuga explained that the refurbished jet is a strategic investment aimed at enhancing the President’s ability to fulfill his duties effectively. “It’s Nigeria’s property,” he reiterated, countering any insinuations that the purchase was extravagant or unnecessary in light of the country’s economic challenges.

During the interview, Onanuga also addressed the recent departure of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, from Tinubu’s cabinet. He confirmed that she is no longer part of the administration, stating, “Betta Edu is gone; there is no space for her in Tinubu’s cabinet.” This statement has sparked speculation about potential reshuffles within the administration as it seeks to streamline its operations and focus on key priorities.

Onanuga’s comments come at a time when the Tinubu administration is under scrutiny for its handling of various issues, including economic reforms and cabinet appointments. His remarks aimed to reassure Nigerians about the President’s commitment to responsible governance and effective leadership.

As the administration navigates these challenges, Onanuga’s statements highlight a focus on transparency and accountability, reassuring the public that decisions made are in the best interest of the nation.
