A true pioneer, Olori Akande made history as Nigeria’s first female Minister of Industry and later served as the second female President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI). Affectionately known as “Nike,” Olori Akande is revered not only for her professional achievements but also as the Iyalaje Iyalode of Ibadanland, wife of Oba Adebayo Akande, the Ekaarun Olubadan of Ibadanland, and a cherished mother and grandmother. Reflecting on her distinguished career, Tinubu highlighted her accomplishments in the 1990s as a director of the National Insurance Corporation of Nigeria (NICON) and the Nigeria Industrial Development Bank, now the Bank of Industry. She also served on the Board of Trustees of the National Centre for Women Development, furthering opportunities for women across Nigeria.
