First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu will spearhead a national prayer initiative to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges. The seven-day event, titled ‘Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs’, is organized in collaboration with Christian and Muslim leaders.

Segun Afolorunikan, Director-General of the National Prayer Forum (NPF), announced the prayer sessions at a press briefing in Abuja. He emphasized that the gathering aims to unite Nigerians in faith to seek divine wisdom and strength to tackle national issues. “Unity is crucial for finding lasting solutions,” Afolorunikan stated, expressing hope that the prayers would empower citizens and leaders to face the country’s difficulties.

The prayer sessions will occur at significant locations: Christians will convene at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja, while Muslims will gather at the National Mosque. Afolorunikan mentioned that 313 participants are expected to recite the Quran 2,191 times over the week.

He further explained that the initiative followed extensive consultations with key religious and traditional leaders, including the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), leaders of the National Mosque, and the Sultan of Sokoto. The NPF believes this unified appeal to faith will help the country overcome its challenges.
