Nearly 50,000 people have been displaced in Syria as an Islamist-led rebel alliance seizes significant territory from President Bashar al-Assad’s government, the UN humanitarian agency reported on Monday.

“The displacement situation remains highly fluid, with partners verifying new figures daily,” the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in a statement, noting that “over 48,500 people have been displaced as of 30 November.”
