Suspected Kidnappers Demand ₦30m After Abducting Oyo Nomadic School Headmaster

Suspected kidnappers have demanded a ₦30 million ransom following the abduction of the headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mr. Matthew Kolawale Owoade.

The 60-year-old educator, popularly known as “Onaiye,” was abducted on Saturday evening while returning home from his farm in the Budo Aare area. According to his son, Abiola Owoade, the gunmen intercepted him between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. before taking him to an unknown destination.

The abductors later contacted the family using the victim’s mobile phone and demanded ₦30 million for his release. A search conducted by relatives led to the discovery of his abandoned motorcycle in a nearby bush on Sunday, but there has been no trace of the victim.

The incident has heightened anxiety in the Igbojaye community, with residents, family members and colleagues urging security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the headmaster and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said police operatives had launched a rescue operation and were working to ensure the victim’s safe release while efforts to apprehend the kidnappers continue. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
