The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership style as courageous and transformative, citing ongoing infrastructure projects across the country as evidence of purposeful governance.

Wike made the remarks on Saturday while delivering a lecture at the 36th Convocation Ceremony of the University of Port Harcourt, titled “Leadership and Infrastructure Development in Nigeria: Lessons for Future Leaders.”

He said the scale, direction, and momentum of infrastructure initiatives under the Tinubu administration reflect a leadership committed to national development, noting that the President has shown uncommon political will in addressing Nigeria’s infrastructure challenges.

According to him, “What the present moment offers is a rare and defining possibility, a window in which purposeful leadership can begin, in earnest, to narrow the enduring gap between Nigeria’s vast potential and its historically uneven performance.”

Wike further stated that President Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions, mobilise national resources, and use infrastructure as a key instrument for national transformation.

He argued that infrastructure remains the clearest measure of leadership effectiveness, stressing that roads, railways, power, housing, and digital infrastructure form the foundation for economic growth and social development.

The FCT Minister acknowledged that some ongoing projects were inherited from previous administrations but maintained that the current government has introduced renewed urgency and strategic coordination to their execution.

He added that previously isolated projects are now being integrated into a broader national development framework aimed at boosting productivity, strengthening national cohesion, and expanding economic opportunities.
