Boko Haram insurgents have launched yet another attack on Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, burning down the Church of the Brethren (E.Y.N.) and several residential houses in Shikarkir Ward.

The assault occurred around 2 p.m. on Monday, just a day after the terrorists attacked Bazir village, killing two siblings, injuring a woman, and setting ablaze a church and homes.

Sources confirmed that the insurgents looted livestock and food supplies before forcing residents to flee the area. Mallam Daniel Shikarkir, a local, reported that his elderly parents, aged 82 and 79, narrowly escaped unharmed, although their home was destroyed.

Paul Mauntah Yaga, a concerned resident, raised alarm over the frequency of attacks on Chibok communities, citing incidents in Njiland, Bazir, and now Shikarkir Ward. He criticized the inability of security forces, despite their significant presence in Chibok town, to secure surrounding villages.

Yaga called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, and other leaders to deploy more troops and local vigilantes to protect the communities. “The people of Chibok deserve to live in peace and security,” he stated, urging immediate intervention to prevent further tragedies.

The ongoing attacks highlight the persistent insecurity in the region, leaving many residents displaced and in fear for their lives.
