President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law a bill establishing the Federal University of Environmental Technology, Ogoni, in Rivers State, further expanding Nigeria’s federal tertiary education network.

The Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, announced the development on his verified X handle on Monday, describing it as a commitment to addressing historical injustices and fostering inclusive national development.

Bwala emphasized that the move aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes equity and ensures that no region is left behind in developmental projects.

The establishment of the new university in Ogoni follows the recent approval of another federal university in Southern Kaduna, highlighting the administration’s push for balanced educational opportunities across different regions.

Bwala reiterated President Tinubu’s belief in national unity and inclusivity, stating, “To Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, there are no minority ethnicities in Nigeria. He believes in the opening stanza of our national anthem, which says that though tribe and tongue may differ, in brotherhood, we stand.”

The new Federal University of Environmental Technology is expected to enhance educational access in Ogoniland, a region historically affected by environmental degradation and socio-economic challenges. The institution will focus on environmental sustainability and technological advancements, equipping students with the necessary skills to address ecological issues.

Bwala congratulated the people of Ogoni on this milestone, stating that President Tinubu is fulfilling his mandate of fostering inclusive development across the country.
