Shettima Commissions ECOWAS Headquarters in Abuja, Reaffirms Nigeria’s Regional Commitment

Vice President Kashim Shettima has commissioned the ECOWAS Commission Headquarters located along Airport Road, Abuja, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The ECOWAS Commission serves as one of the principal institutions of the Economic Community of West African States, responsible for implementing regional policies, programmes, and development projects across member states.

These include infrastructure development such as intra-community roads, telecommunications, agriculture, energy, and water resources projects aimed at strengthening regional integration and economic cooperation.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Shettima reaffirmed the Nigerian government’s unwavering commitment to regional development and integration within West Africa.

He said Nigeria remains fully committed to supporting ECOWAS institutions in achieving their mandate of fostering economic growth, stability, and cooperation across the sub-region.

The Vice President, who represented President Tinubu at the event, also congratulated ECOWAS on the completion of what he described as a landmark legacy project, noting its importance to regional governance and collaboration.
