Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has said he has no regrets for opposing Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election, asserting that his stance was based on principle and not political convenience. Ortom described his actions as a matter of integrity and stood by his decision despite Atiku being the candidate of his former party, the PDP.

Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, which had been expected to unite opposition forces ahead of 2027, appears to be fracturing. ADC chieftain Dumebi Kachikwu alleged that the coalition was secretly designed to serve Atiku’s 2027 presidential ambition. He warned that unless the coalition distances itself from Atiku’s influence, it is unlikely to survive.

Kachikwu also revealed that some state chairmen of the ADC were offered up to ₦20 million to resign, accusing Atiku’s loyalists of trying to hijack the party from within. He urged party leaders to remain vigilant and committed to defending democracy, transparency, and the will of the people.
