Prominent Northern politicians, including Nentawe Yilwatda, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, gathered in Kaduna yesterday to reaffirm their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to make a strong case for the Southern presidency to continue till 2031.

At the Citizens Engagement Forum hosted by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, the leaders emphasized that maintaining the current power rotation arrangement would promote political stability, national unity, and uphold the principles of equity and justice. SGF George Akume stated clearly that: “2027 should not be on the minds of politicians from the North… the South deserves to complete eight years.”

The message from the forum was not one of exclusion but of balance and inclusiveness. The North, they argued, has a moral obligation to support the South in completing its rightful tenure, thereby sustaining the trust that binds the nation together.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who also addressed the gathering, praised President Tinubu’s leadership style, saying: “He governs with the people and not above them.” This, he noted, is a reflection of Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance and deep consultation across regions.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya and Governor Uba Sani added that the Tinubu administration has shown strong commitment to infrastructure, agriculture, power, and security delivery in Northern Nigeria. From roads and rail lines to housing projects and power interventions, the evidence of federal presence under Tinubu is both widespread and impactful.

Together, these Northern leaders sent a clear and united message that President Tinubu has fulfilled his promise to the region and deserves continued support to complete his national vision.

This is not about politics alone. It is about nation-building.
