After recently opening its first Nigerian office in Lagos, the American Hospital Dubai has announced plans to establish another office in Abuja, the federal capital. Like the Lagos office, the Abuja branch will assist Nigerian patients with visas, flights, and accommodations, facilitating access to world-class healthcare in Dubai when necessary.
The hospital is also considering further expansion across Nigeria, with the aim of creating more offices that will serve as vital links between the Dubai-based facility and Nigerian patients, ensuring easier access to advanced medical care.
The Lagos office was inaugurated by Dr. Abdullah Al-Mandoos, the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Nigeria, along with the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, who represented the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, Prince Tonye Princewill, a board member of American Hospital Dubai Nigeria Limited, described the offices as functioning like embassies for the hospital.
“Think of it as the Embassy for the American Hospital,” Princewill said. “If you want to go to the American Hospital in Dubai and go through this office, your trip will be seamless. It will even reduce your travel costs because I have negotiated significant discounts for Africans.”
He emphasized that this expansion marks the first phase of the American Hospital Dubai’s commitment to investing in Nigeria and enhancing healthcare access for its citizens.
Outlining the hospital’s future plans, Princewill mentioned, “We are considering setting up additional representative offices to ensure broader access to our services. The Abuja office, like the one in Lagos, will act as another healthcare ‘embassy,’ bridging the gap between inquiries and travel to the American Hospital Dubai for medical treatment. The hospital is well-regarded by Nigerians, but we don’t want to take that for granted.”
He reiterated that the Abuja office would provide the same support as its Lagos counterpart, aiding Nigerian patients with the logistics of receiving top-tier healthcare in Dubai. He added, “This expansion reflects the first phase of the American Hospital Dubai’s commitment to investing in Nigeria and improving healthcare access for its people. A state-of-the-art diagnostic center is next on the agenda.”
