The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, has presented over N9 million in cheques to the families of police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the nation. The cheques were part of the Group Life Assurance/IGP Family Welfare Scheme, a financial aid programme intended to support the families of deceased officers.

At the ceremony held at the command headquarters in Jos, Commissioner Adesina, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, conveyed his condolences to the grieving families.

He acknowledged that while the financial gesture could not ease the pain of their loss, it served as a symbol of appreciation for the officers’ dedicated service. “The funds, though not able to bring back your loved ones, are a token of our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said. The total disbursed amount exceeded N9 million, underscoring the government’s commitment to the welfare of law enforcement families.

Adesina further encouraged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously, ensuring it would provide long-term support for their families.

This heartfelt initiative aligns with the ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Police Force to strengthen the morale and welfare of its personnel, particularly in times of personal loss.
