The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is set to commence the construction of a light rail line in Kano metropolis worth ₦1.5 trillion.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Rep. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, popularly known as Bichi, while speaking to journalists in Kano.
According to Rep. Bichi, the proposed light rail project is aimed at addressing the increasing challenges of urban transportation in Kano, Nigeria’s most populous state capital. He emphasized that the project will significantly improve mobility for millions of residents, reduce traffic congestion, and boost economic activities across the city.
The lawmaker assured that all necessary processes for the project are being fast-tracked and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring infrastructure development that directly impacts the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
The initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes massive infrastructural development and improved quality of life for all citizens, especially in Northern Nigeria.
