
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced significant progress in its recovery efforts following the recent train accident in Abuja. According to the Corporation, its engineers successfully retrieved one of the derailed passenger coaches on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in addition to the locomotive earlier recovered on the day of the incident.
The Managing Director of NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, personally visited the accident site to oversee the recovery operations alongside NRC engineers. He commended the professionalism, resilience, and swift response of the recovery team in handling the challenging situation.
Dr. Opeifa also expressed appreciation to the security agencies deployed to the site, noting that their support ensured a smooth and disruption-free operation. He further extended gratitude to the media for their continuous support in keeping Nigerians informed during the incident.
