Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has been listed alongside global tech leaders like Elon Musk and Sam Altman in the 2025 TIME100 Artificial Intelligence List, which recognizes the 100 most influential people shaping the future of AI.
According to the minister’s media aide, Isime Esene, TIME editors curated the list after examining key developments in AI over the past year and consulting industry experts worldwide. Tijani’s inclusion highlights Nigeria’s rising role in advancing AI for inclusive and sustainable development. He noted that over 120 Nigerian experts contributed to the National AI Strategy (NAIS), which is driving responsible AI adoption across healthcare, agriculture, education, and financial inclusion.
Tijani emphasized that partnerships with global players like Google and the Gates Foundation are helping Nigeria support local innovators, scale AI solutions, and boost productivity. “This recognition from TIME further validates our belief that Nigeria can stand as a global leader in the responsible and inclusive deployment of AI,” he said, reaffirming the country’s commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s vision of building a $1 trillion economy powered by innovation.
