The United States Government has donated $32.5 million to support humanitarian efforts aimed at addressing food insecurity in Nigeria. The assistance, provided through the U.S. Agency for International Development USAID, will be implemented by the World Food Programme WFP.

According to a statement from the U.S. Mission in Abuja, the funding will provide life-saving food and nutrition assistance to more than 764,000 people in conflict-affected communities across the Northeast and Northwest. Beneficiaries will receive electronic food vouchers, ensuring transparent and effective distribution.

The support also includes specialised nutrition supplements for over 41,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls, as well as more than 43,000 children. The initiative is targeted at internally displaced persons and vulnerable households struggling with hunger in crisis-hit regions of the country.
