NRC Suspends Port Harcourt–Aba Train Service for Maintenance, Resumes Sept. 9

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the temporary suspension of train services on the Port Harcourt–Aba corridor to allow for scheduled maintenance.

The Managing Director of the NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, confirmed that the suspension is part of routine safety checks aimed at ensuring smooth and secure operations.

He added that the exercise is short-term, with regular services expected to resume on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

The Port Harcourt–Aba line has been a critical route for passengers and businesses in the South-South and South-East regions, providing a reliable alternative to road transport.

Dr. Opeifa assured the public that the corporation remains committed to improving service delivery and maintaining passenger safety as its top priority.
