The Football Association has confirmed that Chelsea Football Club face 74 charges over alleged breaches of rules relating to agents, intermediaries and third-party investment during Roman Abramovich’s ownership. The charges, which span from 2009 to 2022, are said to primarily concern activities between the 2010/11 and 2015/16 seasons. The Blues have been charged under several FA regulations, including those governing football agents, intermediaries and third-party investments. Chelsea have until 19 September 2025 to formally respond.

In response, Chelsea issued a statement acknowledging the investigation and reiterating that the charges relate to historic matters uncovered during the club’s change of ownership in 2022. The club noted that its new ownership group had discovered potentially incomplete financial reporting during due diligence checks and immediately self-reported the findings to relevant authorities, including the FA. The Blues stressed their “unprecedented transparency” and cooperation, granting full access to files and data.

The FA’s case marks one of the most significant regulatory challenges Chelsea have faced since the Abramovich era, but the current ownership group insists its priority is resolving the matter swiftly and collaboratively. The club emphasised that the focus remains on events that took place more than a decade ago and expressed gratitude to the FA for its engagement on the case.
