The Federal Government has announced the cancellation of the parade earlier scheduled to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary on October 1.

Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), confirmed the development in a statement released on Monday.

While the reason for the cancellation was not immediately disclosed, Imohiosen assured that further details on the revised program for the anniversary would be communicated in due course.

Nigeria’s Independence Day, observed every October 1, traditionally features military parades, cultural displays, and other commemorative activities in Abuja and across the country.

More updates are expected as the government outlines alternative plans for the celebration.
