The death toll from Typhoon Bualoi has risen to at least 30 people as the storm battered Southeast Asia, leaving widespread destruction across Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines.

In Vietnam, officials confirmed 19 fatalities and at least 21 missing after torrential rains triggered flash floods and landslides. More than 100,000 homes were damaged, particularly in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, while Hanoi’s streets remain inundated following rainfall of more than 300 millimeters in just 24 hours. Authorities have evacuated thousands and shut several airports as rescue efforts continue.

The Philippines recorded 11 deaths, mostly in the central island province of Biliran, where the storm destroyed homes, bridges, and schools. Emergency services are still working to restore power and clear roads blocked by debris.

In Thailand, flooding has affected 17 provinces, with four deaths reported in Ayutthaya. While the storm has weakened into a tropical depression, heavy rains from its outer bands continue to put pressure on river systems and low-lying areas.

Bualoi made landfall only weeks after Typhoon Ragasa, compounding the risk of flooding and landslides in already saturated regions. Experts warn the storm is among the most destructive to hit Vietnam this year.

Authorities across all three countries are prioritizing search-and-rescue operations, evacuations, and relief aid, though officials caution that the full scale of damage will only become clear in the coming days.
