Attorneys for singer and model Casandra “Cassie” Ventura have spoken out following the 50-month prison sentence handed to Sean “Diddy” Combs on Friday, October 3. The disgraced music mogul was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, though he was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges after a nearly two-month federal trial. Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced Combs to 36 months in prison, with credit for time served, plus five years of supervised release and a $500,000 fine.
In a statement released by Cassie’s attorneys, Douglas Wigdor and Meredith Firetog of Wigdor LLP, they expressed that while no punishment could erase the trauma inflicted, the sentence “recognizes the impact of the serious offenses he committed.” They praised Ventura’s strength, saying her courage “has been an inspiration to so many” and expressed confidence that she will continue healing with the support of loved ones.
Cassie’s 2023 lawsuit against Combs, which accused him of sexual assault and physical abuse during their decade-long on-and-off relationship, reignited scrutiny of the music mogul’s past. Although the case was settled a day after filing, a 2016 video showing Combs allegedly assaulting Cassie fueled public outrage. The scandal deepened after Homeland Security raided his Los Angeles and Miami homes in March 2024, culminating in his arrest that September.
