Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his timely and decisive intervention in resolving its industrial dispute with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), which had threatened to disrupt operations at the multi-billion-dollar facility.
In a statement on Monday, the company expressed appreciation to President Tinubu, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and several ministers who played key roles in restoring calm and ensuring the continuation of refinery activities.
“Dangote Refinery is grateful to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his intervention, which led to the cessation of the disruptive actions of PENGASSAN against the refinery,” the company said.
The refinery also thanked Nigerians for their understanding and support, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining local refining capacity and ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply to the nation.
The industrial dispute began after the dismissal of over 800 unionised workers, prompting PENGASSAN to launch a nationwide strike. Following the President’s mediation and coordinated government action, both parties reached an understanding, leading to the redeployment of affected staff to other Dangote Group subsidiaries and the resumption of normal operations.
Industry observers say the swift resolution reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to protecting strategic national assets, safeguarding jobs, and maintaining industrial harmony in Nigeria’s energy sector.
