
The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, led a high-ranking federal delegation to Yobe State on Friday to express solidarity with the state following a recent devastating terrorist attack. Accompanied by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; National Security Adviser, Mr. Nuhu Ribadu; and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Mr. Ibrahim Kabir Masari, among other officials, the team met with Governor Mai Mala Buni and extended their condolences to the grieving community.
During his address at the Yobe State House, Mr. Wale Edun conveyed the federal government’s deepest sympathies to the families of the victims of the attack, which had claimed numerous lives. “This incident is a painful reminder of the importance of ensuring the security of lives and property, a key mandate of President Bola Tinubu’s administration,” Edun said. He also prayed for peace and expressed hope that such tragedies would not be repeated.
The Minister emphasized that the presence of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu was critical in ensuring that Yobe State’s improving security situation remains intact. He reassured the citizens that the Tinubu-led administration is committed to exploring financial and logistical support through the Ministries of Finance and Budget and Economic Planning to aid communities affected by the attack.
In his closing remarks, HM Edun thanked Governor Mai Mala Buni for his resilience and leadership during this difficult time. He also praised the people of Yobe State for their perseverance and strength in the face of adversity, assuring them that the federal government stands ready to support their recovery efforts.
