President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Muslims across the country to use the Maulud celebration as a period of deep reflection and remembrance of the exemplary life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. In a statement released to commemorate the holiday, the President emphasized the importance of emulating the virtues of the Prophet, particularly purity, selflessness, perseverance, kindness, and compassion.
“As we mark the Maulud, we should all reflect on the life lived by Prophet Muhammad, exemplified by purity, selflessness, perseverance, kindness, and compassion. We must endeavour to imbibe those virtues,” President Tinubu stated.
He also called on Muslims to dedicate the Maulud holiday to praying for the peace and progress of Nigeria. The President highlighted the importance of empathy and compassion, encouraging the faithful to show kindness to one another, particularly during these challenging times.
“Let us take this opportunity to not only pray for our country but to also show empathy and compassion toward one another. This is the true spirit of Maulud and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad,” he added.
As Muslims across the nation observe the Maulud, the President’s message calls for unity, prayer, and a renewed commitment to the values that can foster peace and development in Nigeria.
