The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative, will deliver 38,400 modern hostel bed spaces across 24 public tertiary institutions by 2026.

The project, implemented as a Public Private Partnership involving Family Homes Funds Limited, TETFund, and private investors, will cover 12 universities, 6 polytechnics, and 6 colleges of education. Each site is designed for 1,600 beds, featuring ensuite rooms, study areas, reading rooms, cafeterias, laundromats, shops, salons, and related amenities.

Construction has commenced at six pilot locations which are Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi; FCT College of Education, Zuba; Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Ogun; Akwa Ibom State University; and College of Education, Warri. The hostels in Warri and Akwa Ibom are already nearing completion.

Beyond addressing accommodation shortages, the project aims to enhance student welfare, reduce off campus housing pressures, and stimulate local economies through job creation and infrastructure development in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
