A court has fixed a date to rule on issues surrounding a bench warrant in the ongoing cybercrime case involving activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.

Sowore is expected to remain at Kuje Correctional Centre pending the court’s decision on the matter.

The case was brought by the Department of State Services (DSS), which alleges that Sowore made false claims against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in posts published on his X and Facebook accounts.

According to the prosecution, the posts referred to the President as “a criminal,” an allegation that forms part of the charges before the court.

During proceedings, the court adjourned the matter and fixed a date to deliver its ruling on the bench warrant application and other related issues raised by the parties.

The case continues to attract public attention as legal arguments proceed over the allegations and the application before the court.
