The case involving former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been adjourned till September after spending 126 days in custody in connection with allegations of unlawful interception of communications.

The matter, which is before the Federal High Court in Abuja, involves allegations relating to a telephone conversation linked to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

During the latest proceedings, the court granted an adjournment to allow for further legal processes, including the consideration of pending applications and filings by both the prosecution and defence teams.

El-Rufai’s legal team has continued to challenge the charges, maintaining that the evidence presented by the prosecution is insufficient to sustain the case.

The prosecution, however, insists that there is a valid case to answer, with the court expected to determine the next stage of proceedings when the matter resumes in September.

The case has attracted significant public attention due to the prominence of the parties involved and its wider political and legal implications.
