Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, wrapped up their campaign at the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-20 Women’s Cup in Benin Republic with a flawless record, defeating the hosts 1–0 at the Omnisport Stadium in Adjohoun on Wednesday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Having already secured the championship before their final fixture, the Falconets maintained their 100 per cent record courtesy of a 16th-minute strike from in-form forward Ramotalahi Kareem, who emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with four goals.
Kareem latched onto a precise through ball, outmuscled her marker, and coolly slotted past the Beninese goalkeeper to give Nigeria an early lead. Despite creating several opportunities to extend their advantage, the Falconets were unable to add to their tally.
Benin pressed for an equaliser in the second half, but Nigeria’s defence stayed organised and resolute to see out a narrow yet deserved victory.
Coach Moses Aduku’s side finished top of the standings with a perfect 12 points from four matches, scoring 10 goals and conceding just once. Ghana came second with six points, while hosts Benin ended without a point.
Midfielder Kafayat Mafisere was named Woman of the Match for her tireless performance, while Ghana’s Sarah Nyarko claimed the tournament’s Best Player award after contributing three goals and an assist.
Nigeria’s triumph capped a dominant campaign that saw emphatic wins over Ghana and Benin in earlier rounds, including 3–0 victories in both meetings against Ghana and another 3–0 win over Benin.
