Directors at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have tendered a formal apology to Nyesom Wike following last week’s tense confrontation between the minister and military officers in the Gaduwa district of Abuja. The incident, captured in a widely circulated video, showed Wike in a fiery exchange with A.M. Yerima, a naval officer, after security personnel prevented him from accessing plot 1946 — a parcel of land linked to former Chief of Naval Staff Awwal Gambo.
Jocomms Correspondent reports that the dispute stems from an earlier directive issued by the FCTA halting construction on the site over what officials described as incomplete or invalid documentation. Mukhtar Galadima, Director of Development Control, explained that staff conducting routine monitoring on October 17 discovered ongoing construction along the Southern Parkway corridor. When FCTA officials demanded approval papers, they were allegedly met with threats from naval personnel stationed at the site, including warnings that they would be shot if they attempted to enforce the stop-work order.
The apology from FCTA directors comes amid mounting scrutiny over the use of military personnel in civil development matters and the escalating tensions between regulatory authorities and security operatives. As the dust settles, many residents are now asking — will this clash lead to clearer boundaries between civilian administration and armed forces within the FCT? Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
