Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has directed all secondary schools, public and private, to immediately send their boarding students home amid escalating security threats across the country.

The directive was issued through a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin, who expressed concern over the increasing vulnerability of students in boarding facilities. She cited the recent abductions of students in Kebbi and Niger states as alarming indicators of the growing risks posed by criminal elements.

According to Dr. Godwin, Governor Kefas has instructed that all secondary schools operate strictly as day schools for now. Principals and school proprietors have been urged to ensure the immediate deboarding of students and to implement the directive without delay.

The Commissioner explained that the measure is a proactive step aimed at safeguarding students’ lives and preventing potential security breaches in the state’s learning environments. She added that the government remains committed to restoring security and will continue working with security agencies to address the emerging threats.

The Taraba State Government also appealed to parents and guardians for cooperation, assuring them that the safety of students remains a top priority and that every necessary step is being taken to ensure stability across the state.
