VP Shettima Highlights Education as Pillar of National Development at University of Maiduguri 50th Anniversary

Vice President Kashim Shettima has stated that the increased investment in Nigeria’s education sector by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reflects a renewed commitment to positioning the nation in the global knowledge economy.

Speaking on Saturday in Maiduguri during the 50th anniversary celebration of the University of Maiduguri in Borno State, the Vice President emphasized that Nigeria cannot compete globally if its universities remain underfunded. He stressed that sustained investment in education has become a core pillar of national development and security under the current administration.

Vice President Shettima also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming the education sector through increased funding and comprehensive reforms, aimed at improving learning outcomes and enhancing the nation’s competitiveness on the world stage.
