Dangote Refinery has officially invited the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to independently verify its daily production capacity, as the company prepares to supply Nigeria with 50 million litres of petrol per day in December 2025 and January 2026. The move comes amid contrasting reports over the refinery’s output over the past year.
On November 28, NMDPRA had reported that Dangote Refinery averaged 18.03 million litres per day between October 2024 and October 2025, falling short of the 35 million litres previously anticipated. In response, Dangote’s CEO, David Bird, sent a formal letter to NMDPRA CEO Farouk Ahmed inviting regulators to inspect the facility and validate its production figures firsthand.
The invitation signals the refinery’s commitment to transparency and bolstering confidence in its ability to meet Nigeria’s growing fuel demand. Will this verification help settle the debate over the nation’s petrol supply capacity ahead of the peak season? Visit www.jocomms.com for more news
