Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has reportedly petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) accusing Lagos-based cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele of attempting to extort ₦150 million from him. The petition claims the cleric demanded large sums of money and costly spiritual items, including musical instruments and party flags, under the guise of “spiritual intercession” for success in the 2027 Oyo State governorship race.

Primate Ayodele has denied the allegations, stating that any discussion about items like trumpets was intended as advice, not a payment demand. He also denied requesting money or attempting to profit from the situation.

The DSS is currently reviewing the petition, and no official outcome has been announced.
