Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), signalling a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), received his APC membership card from the party’s ward chairman in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Kefas assured APC leaders and members of his commitment to transforming the state and promoting inclusive governance under the platform of the ruling party. He noted, however, that a date has yet to be fixed for his formal reception into the APC.
The governor’s registration is part of a wave of high-profile defections from the PDP, underscoring shifting political loyalties and posing fresh challenges for the main opposition party.
The development comes after earlier postponements of Kefas’ defection ceremony, which were attributed to national security concerns earlier in the year.
