The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has officially inaugurated 75 electric motorcycles for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in a bid to modernize Nigeria’s road safety operations and enhance rapid response capabilities.
The launch, held at the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja, reflects the federal government’s commitment to improving traffic management, emergency response, and strategic enforcement along major highways.
Senator Akume emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for improved national security and sustainable transport solutions. “These motorcycles are environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and will significantly strengthen the FRSC’s capacity to respond swiftly to incidents on our roads,” he stated.
FRSC officials confirmed that the electric motorcycles will be deployed to critical corridors, particularly where traditional patrol vehicles face operational challenges, ensuring faster intervention and broader coverage.
The introduction of these electric bikes is part of a wider federal effort to adopt clean energy solutions and modernize public service infrastructure. Analysts note that this initiative is expected to enhance road safety, reduce environmental impact, and improve operational efficiency for the FRSC nationwide. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
