Wike Warns Against Overvaluing Money, Urges Goodwill in Governance

Former Rivers State Governor and Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, has cautioned political leaders against placing excessive emphasis on money, saying it can cloud judgment and lead to mistakes.

Wike stated: “Money can make you not see well, the kind of money governors have now, we never saw it. This is why most of them make mistakes, they think everything is about money. Money has its own limitations; there are areas money can’t reach, but goodwill can.”

According to Wike, while financial resources are important, goodwill, integrity, and vision remain essential for effective governance and leadership.

Political analysts say Wike’s remarks are a veiled critique of current political practices, emphasizing that sustainable leadership relies not just on wealth but on service, trust, and public confidence.
