The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has strengthened efforts to position women and young people at the centre of livestock development, as part of plans to boost productivity and sustainability in the sector.
At a recent Capacity Building Workshop for Women and Youths in the Livestock Value Chain in Abuja, participants were trained in practical skills such as feed production, animal husbandry, processing and marketing aimed at expanding opportunities and increasing sector competitiveness.
The initiative also exposed trainees to climate-resilient practices, improved animal genetics and modern livestock housing techniques, aligning with the National Livestock Growth Acceleration Strategy (NL-GAS), where women and youths are recognised as key drivers of transformation.
According to the ministry, empowering these groups is crucial to enhancing food security, creating jobs and ensuring inclusive economic growth within the livestock industry. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
