Kaduna State authorities have sealed 20 illegal health colleges and private hospitals in a decisive move to enforce regulatory standards in the healthcare sector.
The action, carried out across Chikun, Igabi, Kaduna North, and Kaduna South Local Government Areas, targets institutions operating without proper accreditation or oversight. The state’s Commissioner for Health, Umma Kaltum‑Ahmed, emphasized that many of these facilities pose risks to students and patients, potentially issuing unrecognized certificates and producing inadequately trained health workers.
“The shutdown is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that private health institutions comply with established rules and maintain high standards of healthcare training and delivery,” Commissioner Kaltum‑Ahmed said. She urged residents to enroll only in approved and accredited institutions to safeguard their education and health.
Governor Uba Sani was commended for his leadership in strengthening healthcare standards and ensuring regulatory compliance across the state. Health officials described the closures as a critical step in protecting public health and promoting quality healthcare education in Kaduna State.
Residents and prospective students are encouraged to verify the accreditation of any health institutions before enrollment to avoid wasting time and resources. Visit www.jocomms.com for news.
