President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, accompanied by senior ministers from both countries, concluded bilateral talks with the exchange of nine agreements aimed at deepening cooperation between Nigeria and the Republic of Türkiye.

The agreements were exchanged at the end of the high-level meeting between officials of both countries and cover a wide range of strategic sectors, including diplomacy, defence, trade, education, media, and social development.

The agreements include cooperation in the field of diaspora policy; defence cooperation; a joint declaration establishing the Economy and Trade Joint Committee; and cooperation in the field of Halal Quality Infrastructure. Others are cooperation in higher education; cooperation in media and communication; and cooperation in education.

Further agreements were signed between the Republic of Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Diplomacy Academy, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Affairs Academy, as well as between the Republic of Türkiye’s Ministry of Social Services and Nigeria’s Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

The agreements are expected to strengthen bilateral relations, expand economic ties, and enhance collaboration across key sectors between Nigeria and Türkiye.
