Serie A side Atalanta have reduced their asking price for Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman from €50 million to €35 million, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Lookman’s future has been the subject of intense speculation since last summer, when he made clear his desire to join domestic rivals Inter Milan. Atalanta, however, blocked the move after insisting on a €50m release clause, citing an earlier agreement with the player that ruled out transfers to other Serie A clubs.
With interest from his former club Everton and several other European sides still ongoing, Atalanta have now lowered their valuation to €35m, transfer specialist Ekrem Konur reports.
While a dip in club form this season may have influenced the price reduction, Lookman’s performances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco reinforced his quality. The Nigerian international scored three goals and provided four assists, playing a key role in the Super Eagles’ campaign.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Atlético Madrid are long-time admirers of the 28-year-old and are considering a move, although no formal contact has yet been made with Atalanta or the player’s representatives.
Turkish champions Galatasaray have also expressed strong interest, though talks have yet to yield a concrete agreement. The club’s pursuit has been publicly acknowledged by compatriot and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, who confirmed he has discussed the possibility of a move with Lookman.
Despite Atalanta’s reluctance to sell to domestic rivals, reigning Serie A champions Napoli have stepped up discussions with the Bergamo-based side as they seek to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
PUNCH Sports Extra previously reported that Premier League clubs Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Aston Villa all passed on the opportunity to sign the forward, despite Atalanta’s willingness to negotiate.
With around 18 months remaining on his current contract, Atalanta face a decision over whether to cash in now or risk losing one of their key players on a free transfer.
Lookman has been a consistent performer for Atalanta, registering 55 goals and 27 assists in 136 appearances. He etched his name into the club’s history in May 2024, scoring a hat-trick to secure Atalanta’s first-ever UEFA Europa League title.
