The Nigeria Police Force has arrested six suspects over an alleged large-scale telecom fraud involving the diversion of airtime and mobile data worth about ₦7.7 billion from a major telecommunications company.
According to police, the suspects gained unauthorised access to internal systems using compromised login credentials. The operation followed a complaint from the affected telecom firm and an investigation by the National Cybercrime Centre (NPF–NCCC).
Arrests were made during coordinated operations in Kano, Katsina, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Authorities also recovered over 400 laptops, about 1,000 mobile phones, properties, a vehicle, and funds believed to be linked to the alleged fraud.
Police say the suspects will be charged in court after investigations are concluded, reaffirming their commitment to tackling cybercrime in Nigeria. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
