The Federal Government has announced plans to begin reconstruction of the Akwanga–Jos Road, a key transport corridor linking Nasarawa and Plateau States.

Vice President Kashim Shettima said the contractor is set to mobilise to the site soon to commence work, adding that all preparations have been completed to ensure the project starts without delay.

Officials noted that the upgrade is expected to improve road safety, reduce travel time, and boost trade and economic activities along the corridor. The project forms part of the government’s broader initiative to enhance critical road infrastructure across the country.

The reconstruction is also aimed at tackling long-standing infrastructure deficits in the region while supporting regional development and connectivity.
