In a keynote address delivered by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu at the 54th Annual Accountants Conference, the President highlighted Nigeria’s renewed commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive growth. Themed “Governance Reimagined: Mapping the Future,” the event marks a crucial step in shaping a future where governance aligns with integrity and public trust.
President Tinubu underscored the importance of leveraging accountants’ expertise in managing national resources. He emphasized the evolving governance landscape, which presents both challenges and opportunities. “How can we, as stewards of governance, harness our collective expertise for a more transparent and equitable society?” the President asked.
He praised the role of emerging technologies in driving transparency and urged professionals to foster collaboration with policymakers to navigate the complexities of governance. Tinubu also noted the progress in Nigeria’s economic recovery, highlighting positive GDP growth, stabilizing inflation, and key reforms aimed at curbing revenue bleeding, boosting social investment, and supporting sectors such as agriculture and small businesses.
The President closed by calling on participants to actively engage in shaping Nigeria’s governance future. “Together, let us reimagine governance and map a future that generations will look upon with pride,” he said.
