The Federal Government has unveiled an N8.5 billion land swap project at Federal Government College (FGC), Kano, aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of learning in the institution.

The initiative, which is part of broader efforts to revamp unity schools across the country, involves the exchange of a portion of the school’s land with a private developer in return for the construction of modern educational facilities.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, government officials noted that the project would deliver new classrooms, hostels, laboratories, and other critical infrastructure needed to support effective teaching and learning. They added that the arrangement would ease the burden on government funding while accelerating development within the college.

The officials emphasized that the land swap model represents an innovative approach to addressing infrastructure deficits in public schools, ensuring that students benefit from improved learning environments without direct financial strain on the government.

The project is expected to significantly upgrade facilities at FGC Kano, thereby creating a more conducive atmosphere for academic excellence and overall student development.

Stakeholders in the education sector have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a practical solution to long-standing infrastructure challenges in federal unity colleges.
