The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the direction of David Mark, has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking an order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reverse its recent action against the party.
INEC had, on April 1, removed the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, who serves as the party’s National Secretary, from its official website.
In the suit, Mark urged Justice Emeka Nwite to direct INEC to attend, monitor, and supervise all major activities and meetings of the ADC pending the hearing and determination of the case.
He also sought a mandatory order compelling INEC to immediately restore and continue to recognize the names of all members of the ADC National Working Committee (NWC) in its records and on its official platforms, as they were before the filing of the suit, pending the final determination of the substantive case.
The application was filed by his counsel, Sulaiman Usman, SAN, on April 7.
The former Senate President filed the motion following a ruling delivered by the Court of Appeal on March 12 in a separate case instituted by Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe before Justice Nwite.
