Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised eight suspected terrorists and recovered weapons during a successful ambush operation in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation, carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, followed credible intelligence that the terrorists were planning to attack commuters along a major route in the area. Acting on the intelligence, the troops laid an ambush and engaged the suspects in a fierce gun battle, successfully foiling the planned attack.
Items recovered from the scene included two AK-47 rifles and five motorcycles believed to have been used by the terrorists during their operations. The recovered exhibits have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Division in Bakori for further investigation.
Military authorities said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and enhance security across Katsina State and the North-West region. They reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces to sustaining offensive operations aimed at protecting lives and restoring lasting peace in affected communities.
