Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the United Nations (UN) to accelerate women and youth empowerment across the country, with renewed focus on financial inclusion, skills development, job creation, and peace and security.
Vice President Kashim Shettima made this known on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, when he received a delegation from the UN led by Assistant Secretary-General on Youth Affairs, Dr. Felipe Paullier, noting that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu views young people as the “engine of change and growth” and the backbone of national transformation. He also proposed stronger institutional mechanisms to advance youth and women empowerment in partnership with the UN and other stakeholders.
The UN delegation commended Nigeria’s youth-driven vibrancy and reiterated support for the Federal Government’s development agenda, stressing the importance of gender equality, education, and employment opportunities in unlocking innovation and long-term development.
