The nomination of Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has continued to attract commendations from stakeholders across the country.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BYD Motors Nigeria Ltd, Chief Moses Ayom, described the nomination as timely and strategic, noting that Tegbe possesses the expertise required to reposition Nigeria’s troubled power sector.
Ayom said the nomination reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to reforming the electricity sector and improving power supply nationwide. According to him, Tegbe’s background in finance, governance, and power sector reforms places him in a strong position to drive the administration’s energy agenda.
He further praised Tegbe’s experience in fiscal policy and institutional transformation, expressing confidence that the ministerial nominee would deliver lasting improvements in electricity generation and distribution if confirmed by the Senate.
The business leader also urged lawmakers to expedite Tegbe’s confirmation process to enable him begin work on reforms aimed at enhancing grid stability and attracting sustainable investment into the sector.
President Tinubu had earlier forwarded Tegbe’s nomination to the Senate following the resignation of former Power Minister, Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State.
